Looking for a Breadcrumbs Alternative?

Breadcrumbs was acquired by MadKudu in October 2024. The breadcrumbs.io marketing site is still up, but `/product/` and `/pricing/` 301-redirect to MadKudu, and MadKudu itself was then acquired by HG Insights in August 2025. If you don't want to be migrated through two acquisitions, here's what fills the gap.

Breadcrumbs.io was one of the cleaner explainable-scoring tools in B2B SaaS: Co-Dynamic Lead Scoring (Fit grade A–D × Activity 1–4), Reveal for ICP analysis, Copilot for auto-generated starter models, and built-in recency/frequency decay. Founded in 2020, it carved out a niche between "spreadsheet rules" and "MadKudu ML black box." MadKudu acquired it on October 11, 2024, and announced that customers would be transitioned onto the MadKudu platform "in the coming months."

The Breadcrumbs.io site still resolves and the blog still publishes, but the commercial funnel is closed. The /product/ and /pricing/ pages 301-redirect to MadKudu sales pages with `?utm_campaign=joined_forces`. The app subdomain refuses new logins. There is no published self-service migration tool, no parallel-run SLA, and no public price-lock for legacy customers. Then in August 2025, MadKudu itself was acquired by HG Insights, so anyone migrating from Breadcrumbs lands in an enterprise GTM platform two acquisitions removed from what they originally bought.

This page is for one specific buyer: someone who liked Breadcrumbs' explainability and self-serve simplicity, doesn't want to be funneled into HG Insights' enterprise sales motion, and works in a HubSpot-led B2B SaaS team. That's exactly who kenbun is built for.

The Problem

  • Breadcrumbs.io is functionally deprecated. `/product/` and `/pricing/` 301-redirect to MadKudu
  • No new signups; existing customers are being migrated onto MadKudu, then HG Insights' platform
  • No published price-lock or grandfathering commitment for legacy Breadcrumbs accounts
  • MadKudu (where you'd land) was itself acquired by HG Insights in August 2025
  • Vendr median MadKudu deal: ~$32K/year, far above Breadcrumbs' historic Pro tier
  • Slack alerts on the destination platform require Zapier, not native

What happened to Breadcrumbs

October 11, 2024: MadKudu acquires Breadcrumbs in an all-share/cash deal (terms not disclosed). The founders (Armando Biondi, Gary Amaral, Massimo Chieruzzi) joined the MadKudu team. The "joined forces" announcement promised continuity for customers and accelerated investment in the combined product. That much is normal acquisition messaging.

August 11, 2025: HG Insights acquires MadKudu and rolls it into its "Revenue Growth Agentic Ecosystem" alongside the earlier TrustRadius acquisition. The MadKudu help docs now live under the "HG Insights Platform" umbrella. Standalone MadKudu pricing has been removed from the public pricing page in favor of "book a demo."

May 2026 status: Breadcrumbs.io homepage and blog still resolve. Commercial pages redirect. The standalone product is functionally a marketing artifact, preserved for SEO and customer-facing continuity. There is no public SLA on how long this state lasts.

Why former Breadcrumbs customers pick kenbun

Independent product with no acquisition overhang, same team building it next year as today.
Public pricing from $199/mo. No procurement cycle, no annual minimum, no enterprise sales motion.
Same-day setup. The Breadcrumbs Copilot ethos (auto-generated starter rules) but as the default UX, not a tier.
Per-event half-life decay, more granular than Breadcrumbs' group-level recency/frequency decay.
Native Slack alerts as the primary UX, not a Pro-tier add-on.
Built specifically for HubSpot B2B SaaS teams under 200 employees, exactly Breadcrumbs' historic sweet spot.

When the MadKudu/HG Insights path makes sense

If you're a former Breadcrumbs customer evaluating where to go, the MadKudu/HG Insights migration is the right call in some cases:

  • You have an enterprise contract budget and want scoring + ABM + tech intent + ad orchestration in one stack
  • You've already invested heavily in MadKudu workflows post-acquisition and switching costs outweigh the price increase
  • You run a heavy PLG motion with Segment/Amplitude product-usage data the ML uses
  • Your team is Salesforce-led, not HubSpot-led
  • You need multi-motion models (acquisition + upsell + retention) in one platform

What kenbun doesn't do (and probably won't)

We don't aim to be a multi-motion enterprise scoring platform. Breadcrumbs supported Acquisition, Upsell/Cross-sell, Retention, and Adoption models in one workspace, and post-acquisition that scope expanded further. We're focused on doing one thing well: scoring inbound leads in HubSpot for B2B SaaS sales-led GTM, with rules a RevOps lead can author and defend. If your scoring needs span post-sale lifecycle motions, the MadKudu/HG Insights stack covers that surface area; we don't.

Frequently asked questions

Is Breadcrumbs.io still operational in 2026? +
The marketing site (homepage, blog, /madkudu-alternatives/ page) is still up. The commercial pages, /product/ and /pricing/, 301-redirect to MadKudu sales pages. The app.breadcrumbs.io subdomain no longer accepts new signups. Existing customers remain on the platform but are being migrated onto MadKudu (which itself is now part of HG Insights). For new buyers, the standalone product is effectively deprecated.
When did MadKudu acquire Breadcrumbs? +
October 11, 2024. Terms were not publicly disclosed. The deal was announced via PR Newswire and on both companies' blogs as "joining forces" to accelerate signal-based selling. Founders Armando Biondi, Gary Amaral, and Massimo Chieruzzi joined the MadKudu team.
What does my Breadcrumbs subscription convert to? +
There is no public commitment on grandfathering or price-lock. MadKudu's announcement said only that customers would be "transitioned to the MadKudu platform in the coming months." Vendr's median MadKudu deal is ~$32K/year, meaningfully higher than Breadcrumbs' historic Pro tier. We recommend asking explicitly about price-lock terms before signing the migration paperwork.
Was Breadcrumbs better than MadKudu for explainability? +
Historically yes. Breadcrumbs' Co-Dynamic scoring (Fit A–D × Activity 1–4 quadrant) was straightforward to read and explain to sales. MadKudu's scoring is ML-driven; in 2025 it added "lead grade explainers" specifically because customers couldn't defend the underlying model. Post-acquisition the explainability is "ML + reason codes," not "rules a human authored."
How does kenbun compare to legacy Breadcrumbs specifically? +
Same DNA: rules-based, explainable scoring designed for HubSpot-led B2B SaaS teams, with self-serve setup and a sub-$200/mo entry price. kenbun's differentiator on top is per-event half-life decay (more granular than Breadcrumbs' group-level decay) and native Slack alerts as the primary UX (Breadcrumbs treated Slack as a Pro-tier add-on). What kenbun doesn't (yet) ship: multi-objective models for upsell/retention and A/B test infrastructure for scoring models. Both are roadmap candidates.

Move to kenbun instead of through two acquisitions

Same-day HubSpot setup. From $199/mo. Independent product, no enterprise migration.
